Steven Rooney is the General Manger of the Hidden Valley Mine in the Morobe province of Papua New Guinea. He is an experienced mining sector leader with over 20 years of success in contractor management and developing safe and effective operational teams, this has been achieved across different technical disciplines and in complex operating environments. His expertise in managing large capital and operational budgets has been achieved through the continuous development of systems and process, with a focus on action planning.

Having spent the majority of his career living and working in the Pilbara, north-west Queensland and the Northern Territory of Australia, Steven understands the challenges and opportunities that come with doing business in remote areas and with diverse communities.

Steven is committed to delivering social performance outcomes through local procurement, gender diversity, community engagement and local opportunities in employment and business development.

Steven has a Bachelor of Mining Engineering, is a fellow of Engineers Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
