Ian Webster

Group Engineering Manager, Ampcontrol

Dr Ian Webster is Group Engineering Manager at Ampcontrol and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Newcastle.

Ian is an executive-level engineer with broad experience in organisational leadership and strategic innovation. In this role, he oversees the development and management of intellectual property and the propagation of core engineering competencies across the Ampcontrol Group. He also collaborates on the research and development activities for the research agency ResTech, a joint venture between Ampcontrol and the University of Newcastle.

Ian is passionate about the continuing professional development and formal accreditation of engineers, is involved with standards development with Standards Australia and the International Electrotechnical Commission, and sits on national and international standards committees. Ian’s recent professional recognitions include being awarded the M A Sargent Medal, the highest award conferred by the Electrical College Board of Engineers Australia, and Recognition of Outstanding Contribution to Professional Development from the Mine Managers Association of Australia.

Ian has Masters and Doctorate degrees in engineering, is a Chartered Professional Engineer, a Fellow of Engineers Australia and a registered professional engineer.
